Worldwide List of Dissident Scientists

I’m not sure whether appearing on an index is useful, especially if the list might form a basis for proscription by the prevailing ‘authority(ies) but, there I am along with 8000 other dissent scientists listed here.

The nature of our dissent?

That the astronomical Big Bang never happened.

That is, I don’t believe that in the beginning there was nothing, which then exploded.

Which means that the universe has always existed and individuals, whether stars, galaxies, or planets or individual bioforms, come into and go out of existence, much like vortices appear to then disappear back into the flowing river or stream; individuals come and go while life continues.  As the Indian philosopher Jiddu Krishnamurti pointed out, there is only the here and now, the present and the existence of the past, the present and the future are nothing other than thoughts, imaginals formed by the human mind as the ego. The past is memory, so the future is simply the extrapolation of the past, and thus the extrapolation of memory.

I thus neither believe nor unbelieve. I’m quite at ease with the idea that I die each and every night when I fall asleep, when the brain stops thinking. And the stuff my body is made of, that is immortal – for it never disappears.

You either get it, or you don’t but no amount of thinking will help, for it is thinking itself that is the enslaver.

I ‘got it’ a long time ago but fall into UG Krishnamurti’s camp, not Jiddu’s.

About Louis Hissink

Retired diamond exploration geologist. I spent my professional life looking for mineral deposits, found some, and also located a number of kimberlites in NSW and Western Australia. Exploration geology is the closest one can get to practicing the scientific method, mineral exploration always being concerned with finding anomalous geophysical or geochemical data, framing a model and explanation for the anomaly and then testing it with drilling or excavation. All scientific theories are ultimately false since they invariably involved explaining something with incomplete extant knowledge. Since no one is omniscient or knows everything, so too scientific theories which are solely limited to existing knowledge. Because the future always yields new data, scientific theories must change to be compatible with the new data. Thus a true scientist is never in love with any particular theory, always knowing that when the facts change, so too must he/she change their minds.
